This place was awesome. Great food and drinks, staff was great, just an overall good time. I had 2 cocktails, both delicious and creative. The shrimp and grits were fantastic, and the cheesecake hit the spot for dessert. We had a group of over 25 people and it was no problem for the staff.
Overview
Walking into Maritime at 302 4th St SW, Winter Haven, FL 33880, United States, immediately feels like stepping into a cozy blend of nautical charm and modern comfort. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere struck a balance between casual diner vibes and an upscale seafood spot, making it perfect for everything from a quick lunch to a leisurely dinner with friends. The staff greeted me with warm smiles, giving a hint of the attentive service that defines this location.
The menu at Maritime is a treasure trove for anyone who loves fresh, well-prepared dishes. Their seafood selection is particularly impressive, featuring daily catches and seasonal specials that reflect the area’s rich maritime heritage. On my visit, I tried the blackened grouper sandwich, paired with crispy hand-cut fries. The fish was cooked perfectly, tender yet firm, with just the right amount of seasoning to bring out its natural flavors. It’s clear that the kitchen prioritizes quality ingredients, and many local diners I’ve spoken to echo the same sentiment.
Beyond seafood, Maritime offers a range of options for different tastes. From juicy burgers and hearty salads to vegetarian-friendly plates, there’s something for everyone. One highlight was their lobster mac and cheese, which arrived bubbling in a skillet, rich, creamy, and generously packed with chunks of lobster. Watching the chefs at work, it’s evident that preparation is done thoughtfully-sautéing, seasoning, and plating all with a precision that enhances the dining experience.
Reviews from the community consistently emphasize the combination of friendly service and remarkable flavors. One local food critic, writing for the Winter Haven Times, noted that the restaurant “successfully blends casual dining with a refined culinary experience,” which I found to be spot-on. What sets Maritime apart is not just the food, but the feeling of familiarity it creates. Regulars often mention knowing the staff by name and appreciating the small touches, like personalized recommendations or accommodating dietary preferences without hesitation.
If you’re planning to visit, the location at 302 4th St SW makes it easily accessible, with convenient parking and a welcoming front entrance that hints at the care inside. Dining here also offers a chance to observe how a busy kitchen operates efficiently without sacrificing quality. Watching orders being prepared and seeing attention to detail in plating demonstrates the expertise of the chefs, many of whom have years of experience in the seafood and American cuisine sector.
One interesting case study I experienced firsthand was their approach to freshness. When I asked about sourcing, the manager explained that most seafood comes from local fisheries, rotating selections daily based on availability. This not only supports the local economy but guarantees that dishes are served at their peak quality-a commitment that reflects both authority and trustworthiness in the dining industry.
Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or planning a special meal, Maritime’s combination of inviting ambiance, high-quality dishes, and attentive staff makes it a standout choice in Winter Haven. The restaurant’s dedication to crafting a memorable dining experience is evident in every dish, every interaction, and the overall atmosphere. Sharing this experience with friends or family only amplifies the enjoyment, as the menu encourages trying multiple plates, each showcasing a different aspect of their culinary expertise.

Love this place!!! Do yourself a favor the crab ragion dip is to die for. The staff is wonderful and the food is awesome. if you don't like that! try the oysters (James river version) on the half shell.... chef's kiss
We love Maritime! We have been here several times but I am writing this review about our wedding party welcome dinner that we had the night before our wedding to welcome our families who traveled into town. Cameron was our server and she was absolutely fantastic and sweet as pie. My drink was never empty and the food was out of this world. We especially love this place because they have a great variety of options, including really good vegetarian options that aren’t just salad. I love the forbidden rice bowl and I love the fried kale on top of it and always ask for extra. Their Brussels sprouts are decadent and delicious. Thank you for always delivering us a great experience and having really good options that I can enjoy as a plant based eater.
Amazing. Great family-friendly atmosphere. Great food. Great service. When walking in, another couple suggested the crab rangoon as an appetizer. It was the best I've ever had in my life. The Fish and Chips was a massive portion, and the Lobster Roll was fantastic. Make Maritime a destination for your family. You won't be sorry!
I wanted to take my family for a great dinner and we loved it. The two waitresses who helped us were very nice and helpful. The food was delicious! We had raw and charcoaled oysters, fish and chips, jambalaya, and the seafood chowder, crab rangoon dip and fried calamari were incredible! We will be coming back for sure, specially for the chowder and calamari :)
Came in during Tuesday happy hour and had such a great lunch! I got the wedge salad with blackened chicken and my boyfriend got the wagyu hot dog, both delicious. My favorite thing is their fried green tomatoes, I dream about the pimento cheese lol. You can tell this staff is highly attentive to detail and the service is on point which truly does make a difference in a customer’s experience. They have really good deals on apps and entrees for happy hour, if you’re in the area I highly recommend stopping by for lunch!
Cameron was our waitress and she was absolutely amazing and so personal. She attended us constantly and checked in which I absolutely love. The food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! I know Miguel personally and I’m so happy for him and this business. I felt so welcomed and the food was exquisite. I’m from Connecticut and I felt home here in Florida. Thank you so much and I’ll be back again with more people!
